Trouble at the Pump // Editorial Design, Illustration
A two spread editorial design featuring an article, which examines the effect of the War on Terror with its effect on domestic gas prices. Instead of relying on imagery of war and gas pumps, the overall direction was to create a mood of confrontation by utilizing type as imagery and alluding to the possible connection of death, war, and money.
The body type (Georgia) was specifically selected and laid in black to provide that “Mundane Serif” look. It is directly contrasted with beautiful typefaces that create the headers and snippet text.
